Punjabi astrological school
Lal Kitab Reading
Lal Kitab (“The Red Book”) is a 19th-century Punjabi astrological system that combines elements of Vedic jyotish with palmistry and includes its own remedies — the famous Lal Kitab upayas (donating coins on flowing water, feeding crows, etc.). It uses a fixed-house system and emphasises the karma-debt (rinanubandhan) lens.
What makes Lal Kitab unique
- • Fixed houses — uses Aries as the fixed first house regardless of natal lagna; planets are read in this fixed frame.
- • Practical remedies — every chart issue has a concrete physical action (donate, feed, plant, immerse). No expensive yantras.
- • Karma-debt focus — afflictions are seen as karmic debts to be settled through specific acts, not just neutralised through pujas.
- • Palmistry overlay — Lal Kitab readers cross-check chart predictions against palm signatures.
For now — use our standard Vedic reading
We're building the full Lal Kitab compute engine — it requires a separate ruleset from our main Vedic engine. Until then, our standard Vedic reading covers the same chart with classical Vedic rules. Many of the same insights surface; only the upayas differ.
