Prashna — answer-by-question

Prashna (literally “question”) is the branch of jyotish where the chart is cast for the moment a sincere question is asked — not the questioner's birth. The sky at the moment of question carries the answer: where Mercury is, what the lagna is, which planet rules the topic of question. Prashna is famously fast, precise, and works without natal data.

When prashna is the right tool

  • Specific yes/no questions — “Will I get this job?” “Should I sell this property?” “Will the lost item return?”
  • Time-bounded questions — “Will my exam result be passing?” The answer comes with a timing window.
  • Lost objects, missing persons — classical prashna excels at locating things and predicting return.
  • Rapid clarity — when natal-chart analysis is too slow for an immediate decision.

How it works

You submit a clear, specific, sincere question. The system records the exact moment, computes the chart for that instant + the location of the questioner, and reads the chart by classical prashna rules: lagna lord, Moon's state, planet ruling the topic, special yogas (chara/sthira), and sub-lord aspects.

One question per session. Don't repeat — re-asking the same question yields conflicting answers per classical doctrine.

Building now — full engine pending

Prashna requires a question-aware engine on top of the existing chart compute. Until then, our /panchang page shows the current sky's mood, which is half the prashna picture.
