Vastu prescription
Which way should I sleep?
Classical Vastu prescribes specific head-pointing directions for sleep based on the body's polarity relative to Earth's magnetic field. Modern research on geomagnetic alignment lends some support to the prescription.
Best — head pointing
South
Classical Vastu prescribes head-South sleeping. Earth's magnetic field flows North-to-South; sleeping head-South aligns the body's polarity with the Earth's, classically associated with deep sleep, longevity, and reduced anxiety.
Acceptable — head pointing
East
East-facing head is acceptable (some traditions recommend it for unmarried persons and women). Aligns with the rising Sun's energy.
Okay — head pointing
West
West-facing head is acceptable when South or East are not feasible. Less optimal but not harmful.
Avoid — never point head
North
Head-North sleeping is strictly forbidden in classical Vastu. The body's polarity opposes Earth's magnetic field, classically associated with restlessness, disturbed sleep, and reduced vitality. Even modern studies on geomagnetic alignment lend some support to this prescription.
