Sourcing
Natural citrine (pale yellow, from Brazil/Madagascar) is rare. Most commercial 'citrine' is heat-treated amethyst — burnt orange to deep amber. Both are valid but sourcing transparency matters. Avoid glass imitations.
Classical lineage
Classical Vedic literature does not specifically reference this stone. Modern usage is grounded in mineralogical observation and energetic-tradition practice.

What we actually know about Citrine (Yellow Quartz)
Every claim on this page is tagged with one of five evidence tiers. We separate what is mineralogically verifiable from what is classical, from what is modern belief, from what we ourselves doubt.
- •Iron-bearing variety of quartz (SiO₂).
- •Mohs 7 — durable for daily wear.
- •Most market 'citrine' is heat-treated Brazilian amethyst (acceptable, but disclose).
Verifiable by mindat.org / GIA / standard mineralogy.
- •Placed at point-of-sale, money-counter, or business altar for prosperity.
- •The merchant's stone — never needs cleansing in modern lore (it does not 'hold' negative energy).
- •Worn at solar-plexus for confidence and assertive will.
Held in Jyotish, Reiki, or Western metaphysical lineages — not from primary classical text.
- •Manifestation amplifier; abundance attractor — strong consensus in modern crystal-healing literature.
Popularised post-1980s. No classical or scientific support.
- •Magnetism for money beyond placebo — no clinical evidence.
Siyara explicitly flags doubt about this claim.
What we do NOT claim
- — We do not claim citrine causes financial gain through metaphysical means.
Authenticity & Fakes
How to tell real from imitation
Real specimens look like
Natural citrine is pale yellow, smoky-yellow, or light gold with smoky base; saturated orange citrine is almost always heat-treated amethyst.
Common fakes
Heat-treated amethyst sold as natural citrine
Brazilian amethyst heated to 470°C to convert iron sites; result is bright orange-yellow.
Tell-tale sign · Hexagonal pyramidal terminations show concentrated colour at tip with white base; natural citrine is uniform pale.
Yellow glass / synthetic
Coloured glass or synthetic quartz.
Tell-tale sign · Uniform clarity with no inclusions; warm to touch.
30-second home test
If colour is intense orange and concentrated at point with white base, it is heat-treated. Natural citrine is pale and uniform.
When NOT to use
Times this stone is not the right choice
- ·If wearing causes restlessness or aggressive ambition, reduce wearing time.

Disclose heat-treatment status. Heat-treated is acceptable in modern practice but should never be sold as untreated natural at premium prices.
