Mexico (primary), USA (Oregon), Iceland. Genuine obsidian has a conchoidal fracture and glass-like lustre. Avoid 'blue goldstone' (man-made glass) and synthetic 'obsidian' spheres. Snowflake obsidian has white cristobalite inclusions — distinct variety.
